African Martins ans Swallows by Nachiii African Martins ans Swallows by Nachiii
Several species of African Martins and Swallows we saw last year in Kenya but didn't manage to take a picture of.

After a long time I tried something with watercolors. I can't really use them well, so I painted just something small :)
These were just very very quick pictures. I know they're not very accurate - I didn't have appropriate references of these positions. Don't even try to compare the colors of one of them to another, nor their sizes.
And I totally screwed the last one - I was too tired of it already. Sorry for that.

Can an African swallow carry a coconut?

Of course, African swallows are non-migratory, so it wouldn't matter if they could carry a coconut.

 haha, I doubt they can :D Why on Earth would a swallow carry a coconut, though? :D To store it for winter, or what :XD:

These are great! I love the lineless ones the most, especially the Wire-tailed Swallow. :) The brushstrokes make it look so effortless and natural. I know it probably doesn't feel that way when painting with watercolor though, haha. It's a tricky medium, but I love how you handled it with these.

I'd love to see more!

Thank you very much :) The wire-tailed is my favourite, too :) I love those artists who are able to paint a whole picture in this "effortless" style. I don't use watercolors very often, but I wanted to try it. I'm glad you like it

i don't know these particular species, but there is something about these sketches that is really life-like. never mind the details; you have captured something about the movement, the relation of body to wing, the way the feathers are arranged, and the shape of the body in a really nice way, especially for "very very quick pictures".

Thank you very much :) You're comments are always so encouraging :) I didn't draw it exactly after the references, because I wanted to draw them like this, with wings above their body, so I had to figure out the shape of the body myself. I'm glad it doesn't look too off :)
