Soaring through the Burning Skies by Nachiii Soaring through the Burning Skies by Nachiii
A little present for :iconsamantha-dragon:. She was so kind to draw me several pictures of my dragon char Azrael, so I wanted to draw something in return :) It was supposed to be a speedpaint, but in the end I spent around 8 hours with it (although 2 hour were used for constant re-doing of the sky ^^;).
I used a photo of a bat as a reference for the wings.
I hope you'll like it :aww:

hooray, i have some free time XD
here goes:

first the wings: dunno if its me, but did you make them slightly transparent? i'm seeing some of the brown from the mountains coming trough, great work nonetheless XD
the rocks, i have to compliment you on that, a great amount of time and detail on the cracks and color difference, but i dont see the use of texture tools anywhere XD

the only thing that confuses me is the background, it looks like a dozen of vulcanoes exploded and shot lava up the sky? but i ques its ment to look like that? XD

and for final, the mountains are really well done, the color difference from the green to brown gives the image of different terrains in the pic C: (a skill i have yet to master)
great work man ^^

Oh, thanks a lot :tighthug:
Making the wings transparent wasn't my intention, but for some reason, I sometimes make them look that way :D Here I didn't mind them looking either way, so I let it be :)
I'm very happy you like the rocks, because this was a practise without references and I suck at mountains :D I din't use actual texture on them, but a chalk brush. I guess it was too small to make any well visible texture there, but it's different - more rough - than the rock I made with airbrush :)
The red sky doesn't have any logical explanation :D I thought of it rather as about a different world, where the clouds are red :aww: The hills or whatever it is in the backround are pretty bad, but I was too lazy to make them into any better shapes :P
Thank you very much - I like experimenting with colors and I want to be good with using them :)
Thank you so much you found time for the critique, it's not often that I receive a comment this long :D I'll keep your thoughts in mind and make use of them when drawing my next picture :) You're great, thank you

chalk brush? you perhaps know if that is for photoshop and SAI?
LOL your art your logics XD (the wonders of imagination)
then for the mountains we are going to have to agree to disagree XD

yes, but it was hard finding them though #_# gotta say that you improve fast XD and thank you

Yep. :) I don't know about SAI, because I don't have it. This brush was nevertheless part of the basic set of brushes in photoshop, so I didn't have to download it anywhere.
Thank you very much
