My second attempt with a scratchboard. This technique is really fun so I decided to make a series of at least three drwings for the contest our school is holding at the moment. This time it's a White-throated Fantail (Rhipidura albicollis), cute and very funny bird we saw several times during our holiday in Thailand a few years ago. Scratchboard 15x10 cm.
Thank you for the compliment Hmm, I'm not sure how to answer that... I've been drawing them for some time now and don't really remember or wasn't even paying attention how hard it was, because I kept enjoying it They're probably not the easiest thing to draw, but it's fun
I encourage you to try! It's really fun. Inverting the graphite stuff isn't really the same. You can adjust softness when working with a pencil, but on a scratchboard, you can only change the width. And it's really great, I'm sure you'd enjoy it
You seem to be better at identifying visually. I got a recording of the bird songs in my region and listened to it endlessly for several weeks one year. Learned a lot that way, but there's still plenty I don't know. That's birding for you.
I see. I did that as well - I always listen to something when on tube, bus or tram. My problem is, I'm too lazy to check the display for the name of the bird everytime (especially in winter ) and that soon my attention and mind wonders elsewhere Like this when was on the bus for 40 minutes when I went somewhere to take some exam, I listened to music. When I caught the bus to take me back home and played the music again, only then I realised it was set to repeat the one song over and over again - and I never realised it on my way there I'll have to do some listening lessons for myself But my other problem is that the voices I learn one spring, I forget till the next one
I might try scratch board art now. Or just invert the colors of my graphite stuff ;D

Yes I am a bird watcher though I bird more by ear than sight
since they are often so uncooperative about being seen.
